A few years ago, here at Medical Harbour, we started to develop solutions aimed at the vet world. After all, our pets also need special care at one time or another, right?
The story we received today involves a cat and three very concerned humans. They are Tuxie, Teresa Amos, Meredith Glasser, and Gregory Glasser. So you can understand better, we need to tell you a little more about Tuxie, a lovely black kitten with 2 years old.
Tuxie was abandoned as a baby on the street of one Meredith Glasser and was quickly adopted by her mother, Teresa Amos. The two automatically became best friends and Tuxie, the neighborhood sensation. Friend to all, Tuxie visited his neighbors every day and returned home safely. Until he didn’t.
Returning home after one of his walks, Tuxie was hit by a speeding car and rescued by a teenager passing by. His family was quickly called in and the kitten was taken to an emergency clinic. There, X-ray images were taken and it was discovered that surgery would be necessary. The clinic in question asked for $9,000.
And it was here that one of our solutions, Athena DICOM Essential came into action. Needing to transform the DICOM images obtained during the X-ray exam into JPEG images, Gregory Glasser searched for our software and managed to convert the images. With that, the family was able to pass them on to Tuxie’s recurring veterinarian, reducing the cost of the surgery to $ 3,000.
Still using the converted images, Meredith Glasser had the idea of creating a GoFundMe page to raise the remaining money for Tuxie’s treatment. The family has already achieved a part of the value and if you were touched by this story in the same way as us, you can check the campaign page by clicking here. You can also share this story and help this family that did the possible and the impossible for their beloved kitten!
And that is not all! We look forward to photos of Tuxie’s recovery and will pass them on as soon as we receive them!
Nothing makes us happier than knowing that our software is helping people solve their problems and save lives. Currently, Athena Hub Vet is our most suitable module for those interested in tools for veterinary use. With it, you can view 8 types of animal structures, conduct classes, and study with the help of veterinary DICOM imaging. The software also allows interaction with exams, for real cases experiences and tools designed for anatomy and radiology.
Right now AthenaHub is free for a five months period and this is the Medical Harbour contribution to develop a more united world, where other Tuxies can also be treated the right way!
Be sure to share this incredible story on your social networks so that Tuxie and his family can achieve their goal!
